Manium, meaning “The Gods”, is from 40 hectares of low yielding old Mencia vines, grown on steeply terraced slopes and is entirely hand tended. Raul Pérez Pereira is the fifth generation of winemakers in his family, but he started out on his own in 1999. He sought out and purchased the best plots available, designed and built a fine modern winery, and has a growing reputation in Spain and around the world. Manium Crianza is deep crimson in colour, dark and intense with blackberry and cassis flavours and a hint of spice and pencil shavings from its time in new French oak barrels. Medium to full bodied, it has firm tannins and a rounded finish. In Decanter Magazine’s Best Value 100 wines of 2010 this wine came in the top 40. It also received 92 points from the Wine Gang.
